Nurture Speaks at Special Assembly for Students at Elizabeth Meyer School

On November 24, 2014 Kathryn Guylay (Nurture Founder and Executive Director) made a guest appearance as a speaker at the “Rainbow Day Assembly” held at Elizabeth Meyer school in Skokie, Illinois.  The day was organized and orchestrated by school nurse Katie Orleans, R.N. who wanted to get the students excited about healthy eating habits at a time when holiday goodies abound.  Katie and her team split the 120 students into two groups for separate assemblies where Kathryn spoke to to the children about eating healthy foods from a Rainbow of colors.  After the engaging presentation, the students rotated around the room to experience hands-on learning with tables set up for Touch, Smell, Taste, and “Guess that Food”.  A winner was chosen for the Guess that Food table and received a very much appreciated prize– a bag of Rainbow carrots!  Parents were also invited to attend the assembly and were given a handout from the Whole Foods Foundation on the importance of eating a rainbow:  better-bites-eat-a-rainbow

Here is some feedback from teachers:
“Excellent.  Simple, concise, right at the children’s levels.”
“(My favorite thing about the assembly was) all the parts: the songs, movement, sensory experiences, visuals, etc.”
“Great energy!”
